With smartphones coming with larger screens, better resolution and faster processors, they are quickly becoming an ideal solution to watching video and TV content. The benefit of mobile access to TV is that you can watch all your favorite shows wherever you are and whenever you want. In fact, this is one app area which is seeing significant growth of late with a number of new TV apps becoming available. While there is easily over ten great apps to choose from (and pretty much an app for every channel now), to help shortlist the genre, here are ten TV apps for Android devices worth checking out.
Starting off today’s list is an app which will need very little introduction. This is Netflix and this is probably most TV addicts first port of call when it comes to finding the latest on demand seasons. This is a subscription based app, so you will be looking at a monthly charge. However, this does have one of the larger selection of TV shows to binge on.
If HBO shows feature heavily in your TV schedule, the HBO GO is a great app to have. This one provides access to all your favorite HBO shows, as well as a ton of additional content you would not otherwise get to see, like behind the scenes extras and so on. This one does require you to have a HBO subscription, but otherwise you are good to go with no additional charges.
If you are more into your NBC type of programming, then the NBC app is worth a download. This one does provide access to a number of NBC shows as well as additional clips and footage and all for free, free meaning that there are some ads. There is also the option to watch NBC live shows too, although you will need an NBC subscription to access the live and very latest episodes.
For those who have yet to check out Hulu, although their movie selection is not hugely varied, where the app does come to life is with TV content. Hulu is packed full of the latest TV and has access to shows much earlier than any other streaming apps, including Netflix. This is another subscription model app and it also does contain apps. Although, there is now a premium tier where you can pay to have all ads removed.
If you are looking for an app to provide you with the real deal TV experience, then Sling TV might be the app. This is a subscription model app and one with a higher monthly charge than any other app on the list. However, for that fee you do get access to live TV content. That is, as well as a selection of on demand titles too.
